Many moons ago (like almost three years ago), a man named Sean had his life uprooted. Sean couldn’t even return to his home for his belongings, let alone his precious feline friend “CC.” CC had originally found Sean one day when Sean was at a parent’s funeral. Seeking solace at the edge of the forest behind the church, CC walked out of the snow-covered woods as a young cat and choose this man as his person…seeming to say to Sean, “Don’t worry Dude. I’ve got your back and you’ll never be alone as long as I’m around”…and Sean and CC were thick as thieves from that day forward! As one would expect, the loss of his home and his family was devastating to the man and as soon as he could make it back to his former home, Sean went to look for his beloved CC but nothing was to be found…not his CC, not his belongings…but Sean didn’t give up hope. He rebuilt his life and kept returning to the area of his former home, time after time, even when it meant an eight-mile bike ride, searching the surrounding neighborhoods hoping to find his FURbaby CC.

In a parallel universe, CC was tossed out in the cold. He couldn’t believe this had happened and he waited for his Daddy and his best friend Sean to come home. Day after day passed. CC waited in the street and wouldn’t even move for cars. God sent his angels to protect CC from the cars because God could see that CC’s love for Sean was pure and absolute. Neighbors helped keep CC fed but CC couldn’t understand what happened to Sean…they did everything together. Sean would never leave him behind…they even had moved state to state…but always together. CC knew that if he waited long enough, Sean would find him and so every day, CC sat in the middle of the road waiting so it would be easier for Sean to find him. Different people lived in his house (but none of them let CC come in to get warm)…and so CC waited. He had no doubt and absolute BELIEF that Sean would find him.

One of the passerbys that saw CC every day was so worried that she stopped one day and asked the neighbors about him. They said that the lady who lived in the rental house before them had to leave and that she didn’t take any of her cats with her and that CC was the only cat that was still there. This lady who had stopped out of concern, called PAW Warriors and asked if they could give this loyal cat a home. They said yes and so CC went to live at PAW Warriors. He didn’t know why, but they called him Guy. He appreciated the warm bed and food and other cats to hang out with… but he was in an entirely different town and county…so how was Sean ever going to find him here??? People would come to visit with the cats and CC would look to see if it was Sean but when it wasn’t, CC would leave and go to the back fence. His friends would go greet the visitors in hopes that they would be chosen and get to go to a FURever home but CC already had a home with Sean. He would pray ever night for his Daddy Sean to find him. Sometimes the visitors would find CC near the back fence of the sanctuary and he didn’t mind being pet but none of these visitors were his person so he was never chosen. Months passed and this scene repeated…and CC never gave up the hope or BELIEF that Sean would find him…saying his prayers every night and checking out each visitor that came during the day.

Months passed, and then years and Sean never gave up the hope or BELIEF either. In these months that turned into years, Sean fought and won his battle with three life-threatening diseases. Each time using the BELIEF that CC was still out there waiting for him to will himself through treatment. When Sean would doubt whether he could go on, he would look at his tattoo of CC and gather strength to keep going for the friend that always had his back. Sean started searching the PetFinder site, looking for any cat that was similar to his CC…but none were even close but Sean kept looking. Then, on the evening of 9 December 2018, Sean saw a posting for a cat named Guy. Could it really be!? After all of these months and years? But it was in an entirely different county and town…how would CC have gotten to a place named PAW Warriors from Pasco County? Messages and texts and emails were left at all available numbers and addresses…it was hard to wait. Little sleep was had that night. A FB page was found and another message was left there the next morning. A return message was received! It said, "Come visit and see if this could be your CC…he has been here for many years and came from the right area"…so Sean jumped in his vehicle and flew like the wind to the sanctuary.

CC saw another vehicle pull in but he left the gate and took up his post at the back fence. This was not his Sean’s truck. Then…he heard a familiar voice and his name “CC”…could it really be!?....after all of these months and years…he had not heard the words “CC” for almost 3 years…were his ears playing tricks on him!? Then, he heard his name again and he came running to see if his prayers had truly been answered. And there, in front of his very eyes, was his very own Daddy! A little older but it was his Daddy! Tears were shed, purrs started and biscuits made…actually the biscuit making hasn’t really stopped…it has been non-stop biscuit dancing!!! And so, Daddy and Son have been reunited after all of these years. Can you believe it!? Miracles really do happen!! And FURbabies are sentient and have feelings and never forget!! May CC’s and Sean’s months and years together be long and prosperous and safe. We here at PAW Warriors are humbled to have been part of this MIRACLE. And this is why we “Do What We Do”…with no funding from county or state or federal resources…with little or no sleep…and sometimes with very few volunteers…and most times just with a wing and a prayer but most of all a BELIEF that we can make a difference in the face of insurmountable odds.
